CTA has been providing engineering support services for the Navy at China Lake and Point Mugu continuously for more than a decade.  This support includes developing system variants, analyzing failure and repair data, tracking repairable components, contracting for component repairs, and operating and maintaining a spares inventory.  CTA supports system hardware and software modifications and upgrades to satisfy user operational requirements for extending the operational life of the equipment.

CTA’s approach to engineering and technical support services is divided into four scopes.

Management/client coordination is ongoing throughout the life of the project. CTA conducts technical interchange meetings, design reviews. Frequent communication between the client and CTA is formalized through monthly progress reports, updated budgets and schedules, design documentation and task-specific reporting.

During the planning and analysis phase, CTA’s project management team works with engineering, fabrication, and QA to develop schedules and budgets, plan QA activities, assess and identify labor and other resource requirements, define project methodologies and procedures, and assess risk including development of mitigation strategies.

During the hardware design and development phase, CTA uses the requirements provided by the client to complete necessary design and development activities and reviews, such as preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews. We identify risks and develop mitigation strategies and generate design documentation, such as hardware specifications, interface control documents, engineering drawings, and technical data packages.  In some cases, prototypes may be fabricated to support initial unit testing and hardware integration testing.
